Flowers are the symbol of purity and peace. It has been using from the very beginning of the society in different purpose and still its demand is getting increased day by day. New techniques of cultivation are being introduced to fulfill the increasing demand. Now a day, floriculture becomes lucrative for the farmers as flowers have a high demand in market. However, proper guidance is required for the selection of right species and techniques depending on weather, climate, soil condition and market linkage to make it profitable. That is what DUS is currently intended to do for the farmers of island community who are interested in floriculture. DUS established a flower garden in their own campus in Hatiya where they cultured seasonal flowers of a number of varieties including Rose, Tuberose, Gladiolas, Marigold, Dahlia, Dianthus etc. With the assistance of organization’s agricultural expert, these flowers are grown maintaining proper conditions and techniques. DUS opens the garden for demonstrations to the local farmers as well as the farmers also get relevant advices there. DUS also trying to establish a market linkage for selling locally produced flowers. Besides, DUS is selling the flowers to fulfill the local demand as well. PKSF is promoting the floriculture at Hatiya Island through the Ujjibito project by DUS.
