Vision:

DUS dreams the existence of a society free from all sorts of exploitation where everyone irrespective of class, creed and cast will enjoy equal rights, freedom and justice leading an equitable and gender balanced communities.

Mission:

Coastal areas of Bangladesh are regularly stricken by natural disasters. Most of the people living here are almost poor. Due to regular natural disasters occurs here inhabitants are lacking asset and resources and they are deepened in illiterate, malnourished and culturally remain backward. DUS believes that optimizing utilization of hidden humane capacity & power and local resources intensively could gradually alleviate this condition. It perceives to bring down all this scope of development affords in an integrated manner so that sustainable livelihood ventures emerge in the community according to their aspiration.

Initiating, activating, promoting and facilitating the sustainable development of the targeted population through capacity building, resource mobilization, networking, lobbying, need assessment, impact analysis, research, evaluation and policy advocacy in order to ensure and protected equal human rights, freedom, justice in all shape of individual, family and community life in all interventional areas.

Goal:

Alleviating the range of poverty, exploitation and injustice ensuring gender equality, social justice, productive and sustainable development, promote essential health care and disaster management effectively and protection of the rights of the underprivileged.

Purpose:

Undertaking an extensive & intensive participatory sustainable development process through empowerment of the underprivileged by supplementing and complementing the Government initiatives along with all other stakeholders and development partners.

Objectives:

  • Strategic Objectives: The prime and ultimate objectives of DUS is to alleviate the range of poverty, enhance empowerment of the poor, establish human rights, promote essential heath care, disaster risk reduction effective and emancipate sustainable development endeavors.

  • Specific Objectives: In conformity, DUS has aimed to achieve the following objectives by 2021.

  • To provide assistance for Economic Development and Sustainable Poverty Reduction: Economy, livelihood, employment, SME business and Development, informal sector workers, migration through their access to micro-finance;

  • To provide support for highest contributions in agriculture, fisheries, trade, and industries (micro, small, and medium enterprises, MSMEs) where capitalization is relatively low;

  • To restore people’s confidence unto themselves and flourishing of their innate abilities to achieve a life of human dignity and freedom through health, education, social protection;

  • To Work for Civic Space, peace, justice, fundamental freedom, democracy, good governance and anti-corruption;

  • To build National and Regional cooperation;

  • To Linkage development and Networking with allied organizations and platforms for Environmental degradation, climate justice, Disaster and Enabling the community capacity to cope with any natural disasters at household and community level.;

  • To Awareness build up on Patriarchy and gender justice;

  • Leaving No, One Behind, minorities, marginalized communities, and vulnerable groups;

  • To create Environment as Open, just and inclusive recovery;

  • To Align with Government Progress on the SDGs Bangladesh;

  • Financing for Development;

  • Digital inclusion, Role of data and statistics;

  • To work for establishing of rural sanitation and safe water use through behavior change practice.

  • To conduct policy dialogue and advocacy with relevant organizations including concerned developments of the Government for settlement the negatives of the poor;

  • To resist anti-social activities, induce human values and provide assistance to the discriminated victims and underserved community to participate in the decision making process of the mainstream development programs;

  • Innovation, learnings and experience sharing, exchange of information, facilities and expertise between and among stakeholders active for helping the disadvantaged.
