“In observance the 15th August National Mourning Day Dwip Unnayan Songstha has undertaken a month-long program “To fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream.”
“One day all sorrows eventually turn into strength. Sorrows transform into resilience, rising like a phoenix. Grief becomes a “Padma Bridge”, and one day grief turn into abundant of crops and flowers.
15th August is not just a day of mourning but also a commitment to implementing Bangabandhu’s dream.
We all know that 15th August 1975 is a dark chapter in Bangladesh’s history. On this day, the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujiband, and most of their family members were brutally assassinated by a group of renegade military personnel.
Dwip Unnayan Songstha decided to observe the 15th of August across all its branch offices, including the organization’s head office, foundation office, and regional offices, with the following initiatives:
Among these initiatives, every member and staff of the organization planted five trees, total 100,000 trees, provided scholarships for poor but talented students, kept the national flag at half-mast in all offices on 15th August, arranged special food for children in two orphanages in Monpura and Chatkhil Upazilas, and organized eye-camps for the underprivileged in Chandni and Dhansiri unions of Noakhali district, and essay writing competitions held among the youths of Hatita upazila.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the 74th birth anniversary of Bir Muktijoddha Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a “Football Tournament” was organized by the “Adolescent program” of Dwip Unnayan Songstha.
Regarding this, the Executive Director of the organization Freedom Fighter Mr. Rafiqul Alam, said that Bangabandhu advised us to ‘back to your villages.’ Responding to his advice, laid down my arms, I returned to my village after the liberation war. Now, more than fifty years later, I am working tirelessly to fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream as a development partner of the government in the relentless journey of the country’s development,
He emphasized that, Dwip Unnayan Songstha believes to reach the stream of development to every corner of the country and leaving a green and beautiful world for the future generations as our responsibility.”
