The 104th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day (today 17th March, 2024) was celebrated at Dwip Unnayan Songstha-DUS head office and its branch offices with due respect and festive mood. On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of Gopalganj.
In observance of the day, special discussions and prayer are arranged at the Head Office of the organization, focusing on the life and contribution of Bangabandhu. Dr. Sahadat Hossen, Consultant of DUS, Ashraf Uddin, Vice-Chairman, Jinnat Ara Ferdous Monika, General Secretery, Aminur Rasul, member of the Executive Committee of DUS and Freedom Fighter Md. Rafiqul Alam, Executive Director, DUS spoke in the discussion meeting. They remembered with deep respect Bangabandhu’s contribution to the relentless struggle for independence, democracy, and world peace. The staff of Head Office were presented there.
Freedom Fighter Md. Rafiqul Alam, Executive Director, DUS recalled about the visits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971 to Hatiya and Manpura Islands. He said, in the history of Bangla, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is an immortal name. He is the architect of Bengali nationalism, who introduced Bengalis to the world. Along with the head office, branch offices also arranged discussion sessions and prayer.
Among the inaugurated programs at the foundation office, flag-raising at 8.00 am, laying floral wreaths at the Muktijoddha Complex building in Hatiya Upazila Parishad and organized a Iftar for 60 fasting people at the mosque. After Iftar, prayers are offered for the peace of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s soul and also for peace, prosperity, and progress of the country.
Radio Sagardwip 99.2 FM broadcasted special programs throughout the day on Bangabandhu.
